Welcome dear students

  1. Your money, or your life?
    You decide!

Very few things in life will create more distress or anxiety than lack of money.
Poverty, debt or simply not having our needs met will consume most of our
thoughts throughout the day and leave us struggling to sleep at night. Survival is
our strongest instinct and surviving in today’s world requires money. We could
argue that all we really need to survive is; clean air, water; food, shelter and
protection from harm. Maybe in primitive times or even in much simpler cultures
this is true, but for most of us now, survival is more in line with meeting needs
    rather than simply existing.

Psychologically and emotionally our needs have become very complicated. Our
reactions and responses to our needs have become confused with our survival
instincts. That heightened mental alertness and the fight or flight reaction is just as
real regardless of the validity of any threat. The relentless anxiety over money will
destroy a person’s health or in some cases it can destroy their lives.

Almost everyone would like more money. We often say we would like to be
very wealthy, but when we really think about it, we usually find that we don’t
have any real burning desire for too much at all. Most of us would be more than
happy to have enough money to cover our needs and a little extra to fulfill some
of our desires. We might all agree that poverty is a very bad thing, but many of
us can not agree that wealth is a good thing. Money or wealth is neither good nor
bad. Rich people are not bad people any more than poor people are good
people. Money is often thought about as sinful. Superstitiously we might think
that if we have money we forfeit something else; like love, time or happiness. We
all have our own belief system about money and those beliefs are often lacking
truth or logic. Our beliefs dictate our relationship with money and are often
emotionally motivated. How money became an emotional issue is anyone’s
guess, but emotionally charged it is.

Some people have good jobs which pay well; beautiful homes, fast cars and all
of the bells and whistles. These people can be just as stressed and fearful about
money as someone else who is struggling to buy their next meal. Money is about
survival at base level but it can also be about ethics, religion, greed, self-esteem,
punishment, approval, jealousy, love, power, selfishness, insecurity, prestige or
guilt. Of course it can be a combination of these things as well as other emotional
issues or subconscious or erroneous beliefs and habits.

Before anyone can change their financial situation they must first understand and
then address their ideas about what money is. Money is not good or bad. Having
money is not good or bad. Money is rarely about good luck or bad luck and no
one is good or bad based on having or not having money.

To Ronald Reagan, "Poverty is a career for lot's of well paid people". This only proves that money and poverty are obviously related to each other.
